888 Casino - Lotteries

The first three rows are draw lotteries: you buy a ticket before the draw closes (10:30 PM on draw nights) and the result comes later. Lotto 6/49 has a fixed jackpot of C$5 million plus a Gold Ball jackpot that starts at C$10 million. Lotto Max also starts at C$10 million and can grow to C$90 million. Ontario 49 is the budget pick, with a fixed C$2 million prize for C$1.

The last row is an instant game. Each card shows its result immediately, and prize and price depend on the game, hence "per game".

How lotteries are run in Canada

Lotteries in Canada are not a free market. Under section 207 of the Criminal Code, a province may conduct and manage a lottery scheme, and each province does it through its own lottery corporation.

• Ontario OLG
• Atlantic provinces Atlantic Lottery Corporation
• British Columbia BCLC
• Ontario age 18+ for lottery

In practice this means three things for you as a player. First, the game you can buy depends on where you are: the Atlantic Lottery Corporation serves Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, BCLC serves British Columbia, and Ontario players deal with OLG. Second, the rules, claim process and age limit come from that corporation, so the legal age differs between provinces; in Ontario it is 18 for tickets. Third, a ticket bought in Ontario can be redeemed only in Ontario.

Ontario also separates lottery from casino play. Lottery and charitable gaming are open from 18, while online casinos such as 888casino.ca, which is operated by VHL Ontario Limited and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, are for players 19+ who are physically in the province. You can read how that works in practice on our Ontario page.

1. 1

Set the budget first: decide what a week of tickets may cost before you look at jackpots. C$1 Ontario 49 plays, C$3 Lotto 6/49 plays and C$6 Lotto Max plays add up differently over a month.

2. 2

Decide what you want from the game: a headline jackpot points to Lotto Max or the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball, a smaller guaranteed target points to Ontario 49 and its fixed C$2 million.

3. 3

Check the draw days: Tuesday and Friday are Lotto Max, Wednesday and Saturday are Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49. If you would rather not wait for a draw, an instant game fits better.

4. 4

Check your age and location: 18+ for an OLG lottery ticket in Ontario, 19+ and inside Ontario for anything at 888 Casino. Outside Ontario, use the lottery corporation of your own province.

No day or number choice improves your odds, so pick the game whose price and pace you enjoy.

Let us be direct: 888 Casino does not run lottery draws, and there is no keno or bingo on 888casino.ca either. What it does have is a Scratch Cards category at /scratch-cards/ with 15 themed games in the "X Scratch" family, such as Shark Bait, Millionaire Genie, Pirates Millions, Mad Max Fury Road, Irish Riches and Aztec Realm. If you like the quick reveal of a scratch ticket, this is the nearest thing, and you can open it from the 888 Casino lobby.

New players can start with the 50 free spins offered on sign-up with no deposit, or with the welcome match of 100% up to C$2,000 plus 200 bonus spins on a first deposit of C$20 or more. The match carries 10x wagering on bonus plus winnings within 90 days, and the free spins have their own terms, so check which games they cover. To start small, our C$10 deposit guide shows what a small first deposit gets you. Prefer reels? Bonanza Megaways is a popular next stop.

• Checking a lottery ticket.

Compare your numbers with the official results from the lottery corporation that sold the ticket. A retailer terminal can scan it for you. Sign the back and keep it dry until it is checked.

• A scratch card will not load.

Refresh the page, close extra tabs, and update the 888 app if you use it.

• A location check fails.

888 Casino must confirm that you are physically in Ontario. Allow location sharing in your browser or phone settings and retry from inside the province.

• An age check is refused.

Lottery tickets in Ontario need 18+. 888 Casino needs 19+ and a photo ID check before the first withdrawal, so have a clear ID photo ready.

Still stuck? 888 support is on +1 833 677 8890, daily from 8am to 12am ET, and live chat runs 24/7 once you are logged in. For a missing or damaged lottery ticket, contact the lottery corporation that sold it, since 888 has no say over those prizes.

What players say

Players who use both a lottery and the 888 lobby tend to make the same comparison. A lottery is something you check on draw night, and the scratch cards are something you open when you want a short break. They like that the cards load in the browser, that the themes make each game feel different, and that the C$10 minimum deposit keeps a first session small.

Several mention that the easiest way to enjoy both is to keep a fixed budget for each and to use the limits in the 888 Control Centre, which our self-exclusion guide explains step by step. To see who checks these pages, read about the author.
