What 888 offers in Ontario
One operator, three sites, all registered in the province.
The casino at 888casino.ca is the main site, and the lobby reaches past slots into live tables. 888 says it has over 2,000 slot games, so slots in Ontario are a large part of the catalogue. Next to them sit live casino tables, scratch-style games, blackjack, roulette and video poker.
Slots
More than 2,000 slot games, with jackpots and 888 exclusive titles in their own lobby sections.
Live casino
Roulette, blackjack, baccarat, game shows and poker tables, played in Canadian dollars.
888poker.ca
A separate poker site from the same operator, also listed in the iGaming Ontario directory.
888sport.ca
The sports betting site, a third entry under the same operator in the directory.
New players can claim a 100% match up to C$2,000 plus 200 bonus spins on a first deposit of C$20 or more, wagered 10x within 90 days. There is also a no-deposit start of 50 free spins on sign-up, with winnings wagered 5x within 90 days. The details are on the home page, and there is no promo code to hunt for.
Who can play 888 Casino in Ontario
Three conditions apply to every player, and each one is checked by the site rather than taken on trust.
- You are 19 or older.
This is the age for casino, poker and sports betting in Ontario. OLG lottery tickets are 18+, which is a separate product; see the lottery guide.
- You are physically in Ontario.
Living in the province is not enough. The offers and games are for players located in Ontario at the moment they play.
- Your location is confirmed.
Geolocation runs during a session, not only at login, so a connection that drifts outside Ontario can interrupt play.
- Your identity is verified.
Your first withdrawal needs photo ID. A SIN or health card is not accepted as proof.
If you are on a break, self-excluded with 888 or enrolled in BetGuard, you cannot open or use an account. That is by design, not a fault.
Is 888 Casino legal in Ontario? How the market works
Ontario opened a regulated online gambling market on 4 April 2022, and 888 operates inside it.
Two bodies share the work. The AGCO registers operators and sets the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming, which came into force on the day the market opened. iGaming Ontario, an agency of the provincial government, holds the operating agreements and publishes the directory of sites players can check. VHL Ontario Limited, part of the evoke group, is registered with the AGCO under the Gaming Control Act, 1992. That answers the question most people mean by an Ontario gambling licence: the licence is Ontario's, and it applies to Ontario players.

When you compare online casinos in Ontario, the iGaming Ontario directory is the check to run. At the last look it listed 49 operators and 84 sites, and 888 appears there under VHL Ontario Limited. Regulation in Canada is regional, so a licence in one province does not carry over to the next, and the wider question of how legal online gambling is across Canada depends on the province.
The 888 Casino app in Ontario
The Ontario app puts the live casino and the slots in your pocket. On iPhone it is listed as "888casino Ontario: Live Casino" in the App Store, rated 17+. On Android the listing is "888 Casino : Online Games App", described as being for eligible players in Ontario. Both were updated in late summer 2026.
The app follows the same rules as the website. You still need to be 19+, you still need to be in the province, and it checks your location. Amounts show in C$, and the deposit and withdrawal methods match the ones on the site.
Because of the location check, allow the app to use your device location when it asks. If you refuse, play can be blocked even though your account is fine, and no setting in the cashier will change that.
Take care to pick the Ontario listing. There is a separate international 888 app in the App Store that is not the Ontario one, and it is not meant for regulated play here.
Everything you need for limits, a break or self-exclusion is also reachable from the app through the account's Control Centre, the shield icon.

The minimum deposit is C$10 on every method, which is why a small start is possible; see the C$10 deposit page for how that interacts with the offers. The minimum withdrawal is C$5. Deposits usually land within 10 minutes and rarely take up to 24 hours.
Withdrawals count in business days: Interac and MuchBetter take 2-4 days in total, Visa and Apple Pay up to 6, and a wire 5-8. Money goes back by the method you deposited with first. Interac Online no longer exists, so do not look for it.
Player protection and the dispute route
Inside the regulated market, the safeguards are set by the AGCO and run through iGaming Ontario, not left to each casino.
Limits in the Control Centre: deposit, loss and playing-time limits, daily, weekly or monthly. A lower limit applies at once; a higher one waits 24 hours.
Take a Break and self-exclusion: a break of 1 day up to 3 months, or exclusion for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or lifetime. Step-by-step help is on the self-exclusion page.
BetGuard: one sign-up blocks every regulated online site in Ontario. The BetGuard line is 1-833-776-7171.
Disputes: 888 handles complaints first. The User Agreement then points to Ontario law and the iGaming Ontario Customer Care and Dispute Resolution program.
If gambling stops being fun, ConnexOntario offers free, confidential help 24/7 on 1-866-531-2600. The about page explains where each fact on this site comes from.
What changed in the last year
- April 2026
The AGCO published the updated version of its centralised self-exclusion standard (2.14.1): every registered operator takes part, and a self-excluded player stays blocked even during a service outage.
- 14 May 2026
iGaming Ontario launched BetGuard. One enrolment now blocks existing and new accounts at every regulated online site in the province and switches off marketing, including OLG's.
- 13 July 2026
Alberta opened its own regulated market, with AGLC registration plus an agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation, and an age limit of 18. That is a separate system from Ontario's. The Canadian 888casino site is for Ontario.
- August and September 2026
The Android and iPhone apps for Ontario both received updates.
- Today
The welcome offer stands at 100% up to C$2,000 plus 200 bonus spins, with 50 free spins on sign-up as a no-deposit start.
What to do if it did not work
Access, location and sign-up problems, in the order worth checking.
- 1
Check your location first: make sure you are physically in Ontario, then allow the site or app to use your location and try again.
- 2
Check your age and details: sign-up needs you to be 19+, and the name and date of birth must match your photo ID.
- 3
Think about exclusions: a break, an 888 self-exclusion or BetGuard enrolment will block access on purpose, and BetGuard can only be ended through BetGuard, not 888.
- 4
Wait on a deposit: it can take up to 10 minutes, and in rare cases 24 hours, before it shows. Welcome offer claims need a first deposit of at least C$20 within 48 hours of the claim notice.
- 5
Contact support: live chat in the account is open 24/7 (User icon, Help Center, Chat). By phone, 888 support is on +1 833 677 8890, daily 8am-12am ET.
Tell support what you see. The exact message on screen, the device and roughly when it happened help the team trace a location or sign-up block quickly.
